Happy 4th to all, and we hope you are enjoying the day off/long weekend if you are lucky enough to get it! It’s been a moment, but we have rolled over the 40K mark for funds raised for Alexa on her GoFundMe page!! None of this would be possible without all of those tuning into these updates, the page shares among friends + family, and of course without the incredible hand from Brit for starting the page originally. Thank you all. From the bottom to the top of our hearts, we love you, we see your donations, and we feel the support. Let’s keep this ball rolling. If you would like to check it out, donate, or share with others, you can do so with this link: Support Alexa’s Fight Against Cancer
Shout out to Meg for the photo with her bracelet, and also to Bobby + Leah for getting swifty and made their own. ☺☻
As said before, bracelets from Aunt Carol are available. If you have one, don’t forget to share a photo with us! There is always the creative option as well to make your own version of a Team Alexa bracelet (send a photo of those too)! Feel free to reach out to me via phone or whatever if you’d like a bracelet sent your way.
Going back to last…last…last week, then we will catch up to today. Let’s jump in.
6/15 | 7:00PM | Cinespia at Hollywood Forever Cemetery:
Cinespia is a LA organization that does screenings of classic films and it’s something that we’ve been attending for a while now. The screenings take place all around town, and on Saturday we went to watch ‘Across The Universe’ at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery. It sounds weird and creepy, but trust me it’s a great time.
We went with a group of friends, had a big picnic area, grubbed down, and the whole evening was a delight.
6/19 | 7:15AM | Zampell Plastic Surgery:
Lex + Ev arrived at Dr. Zampell’s office for their consultation in the early morning. It was A LOT of information to take in, but Dr. Zampell was very nice + it was a relaxing atmosphere. Evan recorded the meeting with his phone, so they’ll be able to listen back to it. We mainly discussed different procedures, meaning lumpectomy, double mast, implants, flap reconstruction, etc…along with a timeline of when surgery could take place. There are a good amount of options for Alexa to choose from, and the doctor is confident in the procedures as a whole, and it really comes down to personal preference. We’re unsure if this will be our surgeon at the time, we will do a couple more consults with others, but it was nice to get this conversation going now.
6/20 | 8:00AM | St. Johns:
Lex + Brit made their way to St. Johns for the 8:00AM check in. It was a Taxol day with the monthly menopause hormone shot for ovary suppression. It was a quick session + will be Brit’s last time joining Lex until she comes back again in a few months.
6/20 | 7:00PM | Culver City:
Lex + Brit had a day out, while Hanz went to day care. That evening the gang scooped up Hanz and we went out to dinner in Culver City. We went to a place called Sake House and got a lot of food. Lex isn’t supposed to have sushi, but…we broke the rules. Afterwards we snagged some ice cream to eat at home. It’s sad that Brit’s visit is coming to an end.
6/21 | Say Anything Concert:
We had two tickets for this show on the books before the diagnosis came into our lives. Originally we talked about skipping the show, but it’s a band that Lex has listened to forever and it seemed like it would be a nice evening out as it was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of their albums. Brit + Lex did some dinner over in K-Town before the show, while Evan was at home doing work. His first booking since his last job ended in May, it’s only for 4 days and it feels good to be back. Our pal, Tommy, was also at the concert, but we didn’t find out until after the show! Such a bummer, but there will always be another to hang at. Evan picked up the giggle gals after the show and they all went home to crash. Tomorrow is a packing day for Brit and then all of us relaxing before her last day tomorrow.
6/24 | Brit’s Last Day:
Monday we all spent the day at home. Brit did her packing, Lex + Ev worked, Hanz turned 7 years old. That lil pup ain’t a pup no more, but it was a happy birthday for him. Here I’ll add a photo of him below.
There we go. Such a goofball. Anyway, in the evening Lex took Brit to LAX, it was a tough goodbye and very upsetting for them both. The house feels a little emptier and missing that lil’ spark to it now, a spark called Brit.
6/27 | 8:00AM | St. Johns:
Lex + Ev back to St. Johns in the morning. The infusion ward was super busy today, and luckily it’s just another day of Taxol only. Lex was feeling cold when we arrived, and wearing the ice gloves + socks don’t help, but Nurse Cathy did the trick with two heated blankets for Lex. Dr. Peddi wasn’t around today, and we started infusion around 10:20AM.
6/29 | Hanging with our Paols:
We went over to hang out with Tom + Marie around noonish. Marie picked up some cases of coconut water that Alexa really enjoys to drink currently. We brought some donuts over and we ended up chillin’, chatting, laughing for almost the whole day. It was so much fun, these are some of my favorite people to hang with ever.
Lex was spent by the time we got back home. It’s a lot of energy she burned, but it was worth it. She (and Hanz) slept in until 12:30 on Sunday.
7/2 | THE MOO HAS LANDED:
Back in action and in LA again, Moo has graced us with her presence. “I feel good. I feel excited.” said Alexa when asked about the return. (That is a direct quote, I’m not doing a bit).
After he airport pick up, Moo, Lex, + Hanz went to TMS to do some work, and came back home after for lunch. We hung at home the rest of the day, did a family walk in the evening, ate pizza, and chilled out.
7/3 | 8:00AM | St. Johns:
Lex + Moo made their way to St. Johns in the morning around 7:00AM and this time it will be a longer day there, which means immunotherapy on top of the chemotherapy. The infusion ward will be closed 7/4 + 7/5 so it was PACKED with patients. Alexa and Moo ended up being there for six hours, and boy were they happy to get the hell out of there. Alexa had energy afterwards so she decided to make dinner that evening, it was stuffed artichokes. Afterwards we did some TV, and Evan caught up with his buddy on the phone.
7/4 | The 4th | Home:
Today has been a day at home relaxing again. Evan went surfing with his buddies in the early morning (back in the water and it feels so good!) while Lex + Moo did some drawing with these new acrylic pencils Lex got. They are pretty sweet, they have a softer tip brush side and on the other a hard tip side.
We’re going to grill shortly, Marshall will come over to hang, and then Los Angeles will go completely insane with fireworks until 4AM or something.
Let’s wrap this up. Next week she’ll be back to the Taxol only session. We will take the long weekend/week as it comes + on Thursday head back to St. Johns around 7AM.
7/10 | Time TBD | St. Johns:
- Chemotherapy 11th Session
7/17 | Time TBD | St. Johns:
- Chemotherapy 12th Session
Thank you so much for the update. I love reading them. I’m happy that Alexa‘s Mom is back. I also want to shout out to Brit for being the bestest of best friends ever.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
♥️♥️♥️♥️ I love you guys. Miss your energy and so happy Moo is there! Enjoy the time with the MOO!
